FAQs on Grüner Veltliner

Grüner Veltliner is Austria’s leading white grape variety. It is widely cultivated across the country, and is considered a key part of Austria’s wine identity.
Its unique spiciness (white pepper) and refreshing mineral-driven profile distinguish it from other white wines like Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.
"Grüner" means "green" in German, referring to the grape’s youthful color. "Veltliner" is believed to be a regional or historical reference, possibly linked to Veltlin (Valtellina) in northern Italy.
