Located in the heart of Languedoc in Occitanie, the Château Petit Roubié estate is a pioneer of organic winemaking in the appellation. Winemakers Floriane and Olivier Azan feel organic farming is ”not a fad, but a necessity” for working sustainably with the environment, and they manage the 80-hectare estate with unwavering focus on the preservation of the fauna and flora. The results are not only positive for the environment but contribute to making intensely aromatic and expressive wines.
A youthful and bright nose of lemongrass and green apple with a subtle, salty mineral note. The palate is crisp and expressive with refreshing acidity and zesty citrus flavours leading to a long, vibrant finish.
There are no rules but we love this chilled as an aperitif or served with fresh shellfish, goats cheese salads or quiche.

Olivier and Floriane Azan, originally from a family of apple growers near Montpellier, made the move to growing vines back in 1981 with the purchase of the Château Petit Roubié estate. Situated in the village of Pinet, overlooking the Etang de Thau, the domaine focuses on the distinctive and increasingly sought after Picpoul de Pinet.
By 1995 Olivier had converted the entire estate production to organic viticulture and Petit Roubié was the first producer of organic Picpoul de Pinet. The variety is ideally suited to the maritime terroir and reflects its origins perfectly. Its style provides the ideal accompaniment to the copious quantities of oysters and mussels that are farmed out of the Etang de Thau, just a stone’s throw away. The variety thrives here managing to retain its vibrant acidity even under the intense summer Mediterranean sunshine. Olivier’s winemaking is meticulous but essentially uncomplicated, preferring not to resort to excessive oak influence. He aims to deliver authentic wines with honest, clean, pure flavours.
